Biography of


Nguyen Thi Kim


Born in 1917 in Hanoi. Graduated from the Fine Arts College in French Indochina (promotion 1939-1944).

1945-1946 Professor at the Vietnam Fine Arts College. Member of the Central Committee of the "Vietnam-France" Association.

1947-1953 Professor at the school for cadets. Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnamese Women Union.

1954 Professor at the Vietnam Fine Arts College.

1959-1961 Post-graduate study at St. Petersburg Fine Arts Academy (Leningrad) in Russia.

1970-1980 Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fine Arts Union.

1983-1984 Study visit to Cambodia and Laos.

1988 ( with Pham Van Don ) Exhibition in Poland and study visit to Czechoslovakia and Germany.

1993 (with Pham Van Don) Exhibition of paintings at the l'Alliance Franchise in Hanoi.

Nguyen Thi Kim's works are displayed and preserved in the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum, the Museum of Revolution, the Viet Bac Museum in Vietnam and in several Museums in others countries ( Russia, Poland, France, etc.). Her works can also be seen in several private collections of Vietnamese and foreign collectors.

Position held: Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fine Arts Union: Vice-president of the Association of Writers and artists of Hanoi; Member of the "Defence for Peace" Association of Hanoi.

Awards: 1946 Autumn Salon Award.

1958 National Exposition of Fine Arts Award.
