Abstract
Exotic plant species are playing a significant role in Vietnam's rural economy and provide basic needs of food, fuel and shelter. Australian tree species, notably the eucalypts, acacias, casuarinas and melaleucas, have become a common feature of Vietnam's rural landscape and provide considerable economic, social and environmental benefits. The use of these species is highlighted in the study of exotic species in rural land use in four villages in Quang Tri Province.
