This Seminar is presented by Graduate Studies in Environment Management and Development, National Centre for Development Studies (NCDS), Australian National University. The program head (and chair for the seminar session) is Dr Elspeth Young.

This Seminar is held in conjunction with the annual ANU Vietnam Update, which is organised by the Division of Pacific & Asian History and Department of Political and Social Change, RSPAS. We are grateful for their encouragement and support.

Funding for our international guests was graciously provided by AusAID and NCDS.

I am here on behalf of the Australia Vietnam Science-Technology Link which was once a part of the Australia-Vietnam Society. Over 20 years this Society brought together the experience of many those of you who have collaborated between our countries. Though the AVS is gone, the network of good people remains.
