My interest in books didn't develop until I left school. An older workmate suggested that Ray Bradbury was worth a read and I was taken into the world of fantasy and fiction that I learned to love and appreciate.I was born in Yorkshire in England and came to Australia with my parents when I was ten years old. For the first three years my father moved around Victoria, until he got a job on the Snowy Mountains Scheme. We then moved to New South Wales and finally to Canberra. In that time I attended six primary schools and three high schools.
I left school in Year Ten. After working as a spare parts salesman and a builder's labourer I went into the family glass replacement business, in which I've been successfully employed for the last twenty-three years.
It was when I returned to school to take a course in office studies and relearned what I hadn't learned so well at school that, for the first time, I began to appreciate teachers and the learning process.
