Peter Curry began writing at the age of four and it's still illegible. Brought up in the deepest recesses of the eastern suburbs of Melbourne he is heavily influenced by the concept of banality. Within his family he was continually confronted by books, intelligent conversation, sports, terrible jokes and mental illness. In his quest to avoid occupying the same job for more than six months he has stumbled across teaching, bar work, labouring, administration, computer fiddling, warehousing, tutoring and factory work. He is currently happy in his casual work of shouting at teenagers. In his spare time he thinks about writing something.
A world ranking of influences on his thinking might include Roddy Doyle, Joyce, Flann O'Brien, Nick Hornby, The Pogues, John Ralston Saul, soccer on the telly, several years living in England, those tablets by his bedside, The Guardian newspaper, and his girlfriend, Helen. He has been known to write about relationships between men, various forms of mental illness, football, the challenges of old age and the emptiness of modern living.
In the film of his life he wants to be played by Eric Cantona.
