Asia-Pacific Magazine:
an international venture in print and electronic publication
|
|
|
The quest to create a popularly accessible magazine of high academic
quality covering the Asia-Pacific has proceeded to yet another stage. We
began with a launch in April 1996 with the title The Asia-Pacific Magazine.
Later in 1996 we entered into a strategic alliance with another publication
to produce the hybrid NEW ASIA-PACIFIC REVIEW. Now we have returned to our
original title for the next stage of the magazine's life. We are again:
The Asia-Pacific Magazine
The Asia-Pacific Magazine, founded in April 1996 by the Australian National University's Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies (RSPAS) - one of the largest and most reputable research institutes in the world on the Asia-Pacific region, is supported by an Editorial Advisory Board of international standing: academics and senior figures in the world of publishing from Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Fiji, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, China and the U.S.A. Our mission is to bring to readers the best and latest academic understandings of the revolutionary developments in Asia and the Pacific in a readable, non-specialist format. The publication is designed for popular appeal to a broad range of readers, including academics, business people, politicians, public servants and the broader community. It is also designed to cater for upper secondary college and first-year undergraduate students and teachers. You will find articles which provide historical and cultural depth, as well as current commentary, on the part of the world which will do much to shape the twenty-first century. The articles are timely, authoritative yet accessible analyses and discussions on such subjects as anthropology, geography, the environment, strategic studies, economics, modern history and politics of the countries of the region. The Asia-Pacific Magazine is open to all points of view, tempered by a respect for difference and variety. Among the distinguished authors writing for The Asia-Pacific Magazine are Alfred McCoy, Coral Bell, Ross Garnaut, Tessa Morris-Suzuki, Sidney Jones, Paul Dibb, Suiwah Leung, James Fox, Sabam Siagian, Geremie Barmé, Milton Osborne, Peter Drysdale, Michael Richardson, Andrew Mack, David Wyatt, Robin Jeffrey and Kavi Chongkittavorn. The Asia-Pacific Magazine also has an online existence, a World Wide Web presence. Information about the magazine - including articles which have appeared in previous issues - are available to WWW readers. You will find advice for contributors, subscribers and advertisers there, as well as hypertext links to further information about the authors who write for The Asia-Pacific Magazine. |
