Classical Chinese Historiography: Sources & Exercises
Wesleyan Univ., USA
This bibliography pulls together materials that Benjamin Elman has
been compiling at UCLA for the past 10 years with the help of
graduate students. Its intended audience is anyone interested in doing
research in Chinese history (broadly defined).
In the near future we will add research exercises for training
students in Chinese historiography that will be keyed to specific
parts of the Bibliography.
Both western text and Chinese characters can be read with the proper
software. The present file, for instance, has been created using
Twinbridge (Partner) 4.0. Characters are in GBCode, although
eventually the new Unicode will probably displace both Big5 (Taiwan)
and GB (PRC) codes. Some specially created characters do not appear
nor do some diacritical marks. We are working toward solving these
limitations in the current version.
