"[About the forthcoming exhibition] 'From the Sacred Realm: Treasures
of Tibetan Art in the Collection of the Newark Museum,' which opens
Friday [29 Oct 99] and runs through Jan. 20 [2000], [and which] is the
museum's first pull-out-the-stops display of silver and gold sculpture
and jewelry, paintings, textiles, elaborately embroidered clothing and
cunningly worked ritual objects from one of its world-class
specialties. Organized as part of the museum's 90th anniversary
celebrations, the exhibit is the largest show of Tibetan art and
artifacts ever to be mounted in the United States."
