Lieweila Productions, USA
Supplied note:
"'Lieweila: A Micronesian Story' is the first documentary film by
and about the Refalawasch (Carolinians) of the Northern Marianas
Islands (CNMI). Known for their now-lost ability to navigate
vast distances guided only by the stars and the swells of the
sea, this resourceful people faces the challenge of cultural
survival. Colonized over the past 150 years by Spain, Germany,
Japan, and the United States, these newly naturalized U.S.
citizens are struggling with rapid development and massive
demographic change. In 'Lieweila', the Refalawasch tell the
story of their history and culture while exploring how to
preserve 'Tipiyeew', their ancestors' spirit of one-mind,
one-voice, and one-heart."

arranged geographic data that is global in scope. The TGN
comprises records for nearly 1 million place names representing
