AGSL Digital Photo Archive - Asia and Middle East
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Libraries, Milwaukee, WI, US
Self-description:
"AGSL Digital Photo Archive presents a selection of images from the extensive photographic holdings of the American Geographical Society (AGS) Library. The images were selected from several collections including the American Geographical Society Library Print Collection, Harrison Forman Collection, Robert W. McColl Collection, and Edna Schaus Sorensen and Clarence W. Sorensen Collection.
The American Geographical Society Library Print Collection represents many decades of research and acquisition. The scope of the collection is worldwide. Dating from the mid nineteenth century to the present, these photographs document a wealth of geographic themes. Many of the photographs were originally donated to the American Geographical Society to illustrate its publications, such as the Bulletin and Geographical Review. The images selected for this project include historical photos of Afghanistan, Egypt, Jordan, Korea, Thailand, and Nepal.
Clarence Woodrow Sorensen was an explorer, editor, and CBS staff foreign correspondent who traveled extensively capturing images of the life, work, and historical events of cultures worldwide. During Sorenson's extensive travels, Eugene V. Harris, a professional photographer, accompanied him and took many of 64,000 slides that make up the collection. The slides selected for this project include photos of Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Turkey that Sorensen and Harris took in the 1950s and 1960s."

British Association for Cemeteries in South Asia (BACSA)
British Association for Cemeteries in South Asia, Langley, UK
Self-description:
"BACSA, the British Association for Cemeteries in South Asia, was set up in 1976 to care for, and to record European cemeteries wherever the East India Company set foot. It is estimated that some two million European men, women and children are buried in the Indian subcontinent alone.
Our aim is to make positive interventions in areas where there is a strong local base of people willing to restore European cemeteries, with financial aid from BACSA. It is only by the impetus for restoration coming from the local community that there a chance that the old cemeteries will survive, and not relapse back into ruin and desolation in a few more years.
On this site you will find details of the aims of the Association; examples of the preservation work which BACSA has supported; a list of cemetery monumental transcriptions published by BACSA; publications by BACSA members; and details of the BACSA archive which has been built up over the past 26 years to form a unique record of over 1,300 cemeteries based on official sources with inscriptions and photographs."

Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust (KVPT)
Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust, Lalitpur, Nepal & New York, NY, US.
Self-description:
"Our purpose is to safeguard the extraordinary and threatened architectural heritage of the Kathmandu Valley. With seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites in its relatively tiny domain, the Kathmandu Valley boasts a concentration and quality of architectural monuments and townscapes of significance to all humanity.
[...]
Over the last thirteen years, the Trust has rescued over two dozen significant monuments. Repair and restoration operations have initiated key training and research programs for our Nepalese team. The Trust headquarters on Patan Darbar Square has become a training centre and clearinghouse for information about historic preservation in Nepal. Most notably, the Trust has rallied a significant donor base among Nepalese businesses and individuals-matching funding is thus the norm for most of our restoration projects.
The Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust is the only international non-government agency registered in the field of cultural heritage in Nepal. The Trust is based in the U.S. with full U.S. tax-deductible status."
