Inter-Asia Cultural Studies: Movements e-journal
Asia-Pacific/Cultural Studies Center, Graduate Institute for Social Research and Cultural Studies, National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan.
Self-description:
"Inter-Asia Cultural Studies, also known as the Movements project, is a transborder collective undertaking to confront Inter-Asia cultural politics. The question of culture is among the most important yet difficult facing Inter-Asia today. Prolonged histories of feudal ideology, patriarchy, heterosexism, and, within as well as between countries, racism and discrimination against subjugated peoples continue to block struggles for popular democracy. Long term complex-antagonisms generated by the uneven histories of global capitalism, colonialism and imperialism, the imposed nation-state structure and regressive forms of nationalist identity politics have rendered meaningful dialogues within the region very difficult. At the same time, the globalization and regionalization of technology, economy, and cultural production, and the recent breakdown of the Cold War structure, have opened up a unique moment for dialogues within Asia and internationally. [...] This new situation has brought political economy, culture and politics together in different ways, and forced us to create new ways of thinking and acting. For this reason the project is more interested in generating new questions or finding ways of asking questions differently, than providing fixed answers. [...]"

[Any questions (regardless of them being posed overtly, indirectly, or entirely differently) whether the Movements project itself is, or is not a cold-blooded (albeit nuanced and indirect) parody of mannerisms and fixations of post-modern social research and cultural studies, are more likely than not to render any meaningful dialogue with those who are more interested in generating new questions or finding ways of asking questions differently, than providing fixed answers, considerably less than utterly meaningless if not entirely surreal yet not without a potential scope for the eventual emergence of a number of obscurantism-busting meta-narratives. - ed.]

"Caspian Business Journal Launched - Exclusive In-Depth Analysis of Caspian Region Entrepreneurship. The Caspian Business Journal ('CBJ'), an online publication providing original in-depth and up-to-date analysis of the Caspian region's market landscape and insights into entrepreneurial opportunities, announces the launch of its inaugural issue, November 2009, available now at [the URL below].
Every month, CBJ will provide a journal of extensive commentary and analysis on various commercial, financial, manufacturing, and service sectors of the countries of the greater Caspian region, including the five littoral states and the nations of Central Asia and the Caucasus. 'Business Cables,' CBJ's blog, is updated regularly and offers the latest in business news and commentary.
While energy and civil society in the greater Caspian region are covered by existing sources, there is little research and investigation into local business development and entrepreneurship, internal and cross-border trade and investment, and comparative legal and regulatory environments. - kw."
