Korean Dreams: Paintings and Screens of the Joseon Dynasty
Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.
Self-description:
"Korean Dreams: paintings and screens of the Joseon Dynasty, The Lee U-Fan Collection from the Musee Guimet, Paris, 5 March - 8 June 2009, Asian gallery, ground level.
This exhibition, the first showing of traditional Korean painting in the Gallery, will comprise Korean screens, hanging scrolls and album leaves dating from the 17th to 19th centuries. The paintings in this collection represent popular decorative traditions used in Korean homes, rather than the Chinese literati style favoured by officials in the Confucianism-dominated society. Themes covered will include calligraphy, landscape, bird-and-flower, mythical animals and portraits. A popular subject represented with some fine examples is the so-called book screen (Chaek'kori), a genre adopted with relish by Koreans, artist and patron alike."

Chinese Conventional Place Names [converted from Wade-Giles to pinyin]
Cataloging Policy And Support Office, Library of Congress, Washington, DC, US.
Self-description:
"The Library of Congress is beginning the process of revising the Chinese place names currently established in a conventional English-language form to the form used by the United States Board on Geographic Names. This process began in August 1998 when the Library conducted a pilot project to test the feasibility of making these changes. The Library is now ready to proceed with the other names it has identified for change. This list will appear in Cataloging Service Bulletin, no. 83, Winter 1999. The list consists primarily of the provinces and the provincial capitals and other major cities.
In general the change will be made to the name authority record for the geographic name as the beginning point. [...] The intent is to post on this page those main headings that have been changed and the status of the changes made to other authority records that have used that heading. These changes are being made before the Library converts from the Wade-Giles system of romanization for Chinese to pinyin because many of the forms used for these geographic headings cannot be converted easily by machine manipulation since they are not systematically romanized from Wade-Giles."

Chinese Unicorn - all about the Zhi (a 2008 e-book by Jeannie Thomas Parker)
www.chinese-unicorn.com, Brea, CA, US.
Self-description:
"A Web site containing a full-length book about the Chinese unicorn throughout history, as well as a blog [...] This is the first book published in the English language to explore the origin and significance of the mythic Chinese unicorn and its influence on later unicorn myths. It proves, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the Chinese unicorn was *not* the 'qilin', but a one-horned female goat-like beast called the 'zhi'. It also examines the real animals upon which the myth was based. Its most significant finding, however, is that the unicorn 'zhi' was the ultimate symbol of justice under the law in ancient China."

Asian Institute of Technology, Pathumthani, Thailand
Self-description:
"In 1956, the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL) was established as an initiative of a small group of universities in Southeast Asia who envisioned an organization that will support universities in the promotion of excellence in teaching, learning and national and regional public service. Originally based in Thailand, ASAIHL has since expanded beyond Southeast Asia to include 166 member universities in 17 countries across Asia-Pacific. For its role, ASAIHL was granted UNESCO status in 1973."
