"The Asian Studies WWW Monitor" (ISSN 1329-9778) was established 21 April 1994. The journal, a pioneering and the only publication of this kind in the world, provides daily abstracts and reviews of new/updated online resources of significance to research, teaching and communications dealing with Asian Studies. It is published by the Internet Publications Bureau, RSPAS, National Institute for Asia and the Pacific, ANU. The periodical forms a key element of the global, cooperative project Asian Studies WWW Virtual Library. For further details see a page About the Asian Studies WWW Monitor. The journal is complemented by its sister publication Pacific Studies WWW Monitor which was established in April 2000.

Daily contents' summaries and evaluations published in the web edition of the Journal are disseminated also on the network via a mailing list.

Self description: "Islam, Human Security, and Xenophobia, An International Conference, 25-26 November 2005, [ANZ Pavillion, Melbourne Arts Centre, St.Kilda Rd. - ed. ] Melbourne.
The conference focuses on Muslim responses to increasing political, social and security challenges in a global era. The conference will explore the increasing salience of Islam in contemporary world politics and the impact of this salience on domestic politics in the Muslim world as well as Western states with major Muslim populations. The conference will also consider the policies toward Islam and Muslims adopted by Australia and major international players in particular in the context of regional and civil conflicts. In addressing these issues, the conference will bring together prominent researchers from Australia and overseas working on diverse but related issues ranging from human rights and civil society to international politics, human security and conflict resolution.
Themes: * Political Islam and Democracy; * Islamic radicalism/reformism; * Islam, human security and political violence; * Global Islam and the politics of identity; * Muslim NGOs and the discourse of human rights in Islam; * Representing Islam and Muslims in government policies and the media; * Xenophobia and Muslim Diaspora in the West; * Transnationalism and identity formation among Muslim Diaspora.
