Self-description: "The 15th Biennial Conference of the Asian Studies Association of Australia (ASAA) was held in Canberra from 29 June to 2 July 2004. The 2004 ASAA Conference reflected the breadth and depth of Asian Studies in Australia, the region and the world and there was therefore no single Conference theme. A strong feature of the Conference, however, was the relevance of Asian Studies to the contemporary world. In order to make the information and ideas presented at the conference promptly and widely available, participants in the conference were invited to submit written papers based on their presentations for inclusion in refereed conference proceedings to be published on the Web. Each paper submitted for consideration was peer-reviewed according to the requirements of the Australian Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) [...] A total of 105 papers were accepted for publication."
Site contents: 1. About these Conference proceedings; 2. Editorial board; 3. Suggested citation format for papers published in this online volume; 4. Acknowledgments; 5. Peer-reviewed ASAA 2004 Conference papers (PDF format).

14th JAMCO Online International Symposium
Japan Media Communication Center, Tokyo, Japan
Supplied note: "The Japan Media Communication Center (JAMCO) is conducting the 14th JAMCO Online International Symposium on the JAMCO's Website from November 1 through December 31, 2004.
Under the theme 'International Reporting by TV Media - Public Good and National Interest', the symposium takes a look at how the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, Japan, and other advanced countries are using TV for international reporting, and discusses problems involved while considering issues of the national interest and the public good. Finally, it reexamines the role and responsibility of TV in a globalized world.
Five outstanding researchers and people actively engaged in some phase of TV reporting from the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan will address that theme via online presentations, and we plan to invite discussants to offer observations, critiques, and questions. In addition to discussion by experts, we hope to increase participation by welcoming contributions from the online audience. Everyone with an opinion, comment, or question is invited to join in by responding through JAMCO's website. - yo."
