"The Asian Studies WWW Monitor" (ISSN 1329-9778) was established 21 April 1994. The journal, a pioneering and the only publication of this kind in the world, provides daily abstracts and reviews of new/updated online resources of significance to research, teaching and communications dealing with Asian Studies. It is published by the Internet Publications Bureau, RSPAS, National Institute for Asia and the Pacific, ANU. The periodical forms a key element of the global, cooperative project Asian Studies WWW Virtual Library. For further details see a page About the Asian Studies WWW Monitor. The journal is complemented by its sister publication Pacific Studies WWW Monitor which was established in April 2000.

Daily contents' summaries and evaluations published in the web edition of the Journal are disseminated also on the network via a mailing list.

Lama Jampa Thaye (David Stott) holds a Ph.D. in Tibetan Buddhism and for many years lectured in Tibetan Buddhism at Manchester University. An accomplished scholar of the Sakya and Karma Kagyu traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, Lama Jampa Thaye places great emphasis on study of the great Mahayana texts by the Indian masters and later Tibetan works which expound the philosophical view of Lord Buddha's enlightenment. Lama Jampa's own books, composed in accord with traditional Tibetan principles, are listed on the Web site. Teachings on Buddhist philosophy and practice are regularly given at Dechen centres and details of these are publicised on our Web site." - ep.
