U.S. and India -- A Dangerous Alliance
Foreign Policy in Focus (FPIF), Washington, DC, USA
Extract: "May 7, 2003. 'U.S. and India -- A Dangerous Alliance' by Conn Hallinan. In the wake of the Iraq War, growing tensions with Iran, and a possible confrontation with North Korea, it would be easy to miss the formation of yet another Washington think tank. But the freshly minted U.S.-India Institute for Strategic Policy is an organization to watch and one that may help reveal the next target of American power: containing China. The Institute, closely aligned with the ultra-conservative Center for Security Policy, is the outcome of a series of quiet meetings and low profile joint military operations between the U.S. and the government of prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, dominated by the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)."

Asian Studies Review journal
Asian Studies Association of Australia (ASAA), Australia
Self-description: "The Asian Studies Review is the flagship publication of the Asian Studies Association of Australia [coombs.anu.edu.au/ASAA/]. The journal's editor is Kam Louie of the China and Korea Centre [www.anu.edu.au/asianstudies/us.html] at Australian National University, and the Assistant Editor is Ms Anne Platt of the Asian Studies Centre at University of Queensland [www.arts.uq.edu.au/slccs/asc.html] . The journal has an international Editorial Board with specialists from each of the Asian regions. The Regional Editors coordinate the processing of manuscripts and book reviews for their regions. The Review centres on refereed articles of the highest quality on all aspects of Asian studies. This includes traditional fields such as history, economics and literature, as well as many areas (film, popular culture, health science, environment etc) which have in the past tended to fall outside the purview of mainstream Asian studies. 'State of the art' essays and surveys of major intellectual trends in Asian countries are particularly sought. The journal also incorporates a strong book review section. Guest-edited 'special issues' are also a feature. Since 1998, the Review has been published by Blackwell and distributed internationally. In 2004 Taylor and Francis will take over as publishers. Articles submitted for consideration are sent to two external referees for evaluation, to ensure that the quality of the publication is maintained at the highest standard. Anyone interested in submitting an article to Asian Studies Review should contact the Editor, Professor Kam Louie, China and Korea Centre, Australian National University, Canberra, ACT, Australia 0200. Meta-Guide to Indonesia: Annotated Bibliography of post-1990 Bibliographies on Indonesia
Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, The Australian National University, Canberra, Australia
Self-description: "Meta-Guide to Indonesia: Annotated Bibliography of post-1990 Bibliographies on Indonesia by George Miller. Work-in-Progress, version 1.2 (2 May 2003).
* Purpose: This work [now covering 116 items - ed.] attempts to update Herman C. Kemp's 1990 publication, 'Annotated Bibliography of Bibliographies on Indonesia' (Leiden, KITLV Press) which is the most comprehensive published guide for Indonesian studies to that point in time. It is hoped that this present work, a part of the Indonesian Studies WWW VL [a sub-section of the Asian Studies WWW VL (coombs.anu.edu.au/WWWVL-AsianStudies.html) - ed.], will be a first-stop entry to the increasingly wide range of current research material on Indonesia published [in print and electronically - ed.] since 1990. Readers' comments and suggestions for improvements and addenda to this meta-bibliography are warmly invited.
* Scope: [...] The main source for the material has been the Library of The Australian National University, and the National Library of Australia, Canberra. Works have been limited to those in English, Indonesian and Dutch, though it is hoped to extend the coverage to other languages in due course. [...]
* Compiler and copyright holder: George Miller has worked in the field of Indonesian bibliography and librarianship for many years. He set-up the National Library of Australia's Jakarta office in 1969, was Southeast Asian Librarian at the ANU between 1974 and 1997 and was editor of the monthly email list, 'Recent Indonesian Publications' between 1998 and 2002."
