"The Asian Studies WWW Monitor" (ISSN 1329-9778) was established 21 April 1994. It is published by the Internet Publications Bureau, RSPAS, National Institute for Asia and the Pacific, ANU. The periodical forms a key element of the global, cooperative project Asian Studies WWW Virtual Library. For further details see a page About the Asian Studies WWW Monitor. The journal is complemented by its sister publication Pacific Studies WWW Monitor which was established in April 2000.

The Archive was presented to the Centre for Euro-Asian Studies by Mrs. Ragna Kassenova, widow of the late Dr. Oumirserik Kasenov, a famous scholar. Dr. Oumirserik Kasenov was Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies; Member of the Special Advisory Board on Disarmament Matters to the Secretary General of the United Nations; Vice-Rector and Professor at Kainar University, Almaty; Director of the Centre for Central Asian and International Studies."
Supplied note: "The range of materials collected is quite wide, and the existing works will be of a particular use to those who are interested in problems of regional security in Central Asia, Caspian Sea and oil, issues of nuclear non-proliferation, integration and disintegration in Central Asia and CIS, and also matters of national security of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Some of the materials (both in English and Russian) are available on-line. The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and the Strategic Alliance for Asian Studies welcome proposals for workshops to take place in 2002/2003 on themes of common interest to both Asia and Europe. Procedure Workshop proposals should be sent to the secretariat of the Asia-Europe Workshop Series before 1 June 2002 [the original 15th May deadline has been now extended until 1 June - ed.]. Approximately 6 workshop proposals will be selected for realization between September 2002 and September 2003. The received proposals will be refereed by a joint Europe-Asia Selection Committee and, when necessary, by external reviewers. Workshop initiators will be informed of the Committee's decision in July 2002. Financial support consists of a contribution to travel costs and accommodation costs up to a maximum of US $ 15,000 per workshop. [...] The workshop should be jointly organized by a European and an Asian institute from ASEM member countries, and be held in one of the ASEM countries: [Austria, Belgium, Brunei, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxemburg, Malaysia, Netherlands, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, United Kingdom, Vietnam]."
