"The Asian Studies WWW Monitor" (ISSN 1329-9778) was established 21 April 1994. It is published by the Internet Publications Bureau, RSPAS, National Institute for Asia and the Pacific, ANU. The periodical forms a key element of the global, cooperative project Asian Studies WWW Virtual Library. For further details see a page About the Asian Studies WWW Monitor. The journal is complemented by its sister publication Pacific Studies WWW Monitor which was established in April 2000.

Supplied note: "The portal serves as a 'one-stop shop' of specifically crafted information and analysis on human security issues in Central Asia necessary for informed debate and policy-making. [...] Registration (free of charge) is required. [...] The portal provides a searchable database of links to critical reference materials, maps, regional and international news sources on the region, as well as easy access to information on organizations and specialists active in the field. To date, there are over 1,500 articles in the portal's database. The portal also features HPCR's policy briefs, which aim to develop alternative strategies and policy recommendations to address the sources of insecurity in the region. As of January 2002, the Harvard Program produced three policy briefs, respectively on internal displacement in Afghanistan, the role of Islam in shaping the future of Afghanistan, and the challenges of reconstruction - all available on the portal."
