"The Asian Studies WWW Monitor" (ISSN 1329-9778) was established 21 April 1994. The periodical forms a key element of the global, cooperative project Asian Studies WWW Virtual Library. For further details of this Internet publication from the Publications and Studies Bureau, RSPAS, National Institute of Asian and Pacific Studies, ANU see a page About the Asian Studies WWW Monitor. The journal is complemented by its sister publication Pacific Studies WWW Monitor which was established in April 2000.

As the mentioned records are so numerous, we are starting to provide from the records held by the National Archives of Japan [incl. 'Dajo Ruiten', 'Kubun Roku', 'Kobun Ruishu' and 'Kobun Zassan' series - ed.], The Diplomatic Record Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs [incl. about 600,000 microfilm frames of category 'A' documents (political and diplomatic affairs) of pre- and in wartime period of Showa era - ed.] , and The National Institute for Defense Studies of the National Defense Agency [incl. Japanese Imperial Army's Records: 'Rikugunsyo Dainikki'(1868 to 1942), 'Jinchunisshi' ,'Sentoshoho' etc: (records of battles from the foundation of the Japanese Imperial Army to the end of World War II), Japanese Imperial Navy's Records: 'Kaigunsho kobun biko' (military education, warships, and weapons 1876 to 1937), 'Senzinisshi', 'Sentoshoho', etc: (records of battles from the foundation of the Japanese Imperial Army and Navy to the end of World War II) - ed.], where great held and transformed into digital images. The original records provided by the JACAR are available in the above mentioned institutions."

Supplied note: "National Geographic has just released up-to-the-moment maps of Afghanistan, more accurate than many other resources.  Through the aid of government sources, National Geographic cartographers worked tirelessly to release these definitive maps of the region. The maps delineate Afghan cities, rivers, mountains, and airports.  The maps also boast satellite images of Afghanistan, including a historical timeline spanning from 1842 to the present conflict.  Mini-maps of Taliban and Northern Alliance strongholds and refugee camps are also covered."
