Strategic Asia 2001: Power and Purpose
The National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR), USA
Supplied note: "In 'Strategic Asia 2001', the nation's top Asia specialists and international relations experts outline the current strategic environment and then ask what will 'Strategic Asia' look like in five to ten years. Six studies analyze the key players and critical sub-regions of strategic Asia: China, Japan, Russia and Central Asia, Korea, India, and Southeast Asia. Current threats to peace and stability are assessed, and, through innovative forecasts, the authors consider how the strategic environment in Asia could change surprisingly and underscore the reasons for, and implications of, such strategic discontinuities."
