Annotated bibliography on shamanism in Chinese culture
Barend ter Haar, University of Heidelberg, Germany
Description: "The first problem that one encounters in studying shamanism is one of definition and terminology, since this largely determines the inclusion or exclusion of literature and topics. (self description).
Site contents: (1) General works (Bibliographies; General theoretical studies; General studies on shamanism in China); (2) Fieldwork studies (Fujianese cultural regions; Guangdong cultural regions; Northern China; Non-Han cultures); (3) Spirit writing (fieldwork and history); (4) History (Until the Song; Song and after); (5) Daoism and its shamanic roots.
