Author: Sumekar, Sri

Title: Katalog pameran koleksi cerita rakyat Perpustakaan Nasional RI, auditorium Perpustakaan Nasional RI, 26-30 November 2002. Jakarta, Perpustakaan Nasional, 2002.

Coverage: Using a broad definition of "folk story", the list includes a selection of works from all parts of the archipelago, in different formats and different genres. It includes customs and traditions, anecdotal accounts of historical events, fables, legends and historical romances. Selected from the National Library of Indonesia's collection of over 2,000 folk stories.

No. of items: 342

Structure: The books are arranged into four main sections: by geography, genre, (i.e., customary law, fables, legends, etc.), folk stories in periodicals and folk stories in manuscript form. Each entry gives bibliographical details and the call number in the collection, as well as a summary of the story itself, or, in the case of collections, a description of the contents. Works in regional languages also included.

Evaluation: Useful introduction to an extensive collection of important material. Summaries of each entry provide particularly useful information. Useful "Introduction" and bibliography.
