To be held on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University, Friday and Saturday, October 28 and 29, 2005.
The 15th Annual Women's Studies Conference is dedicated to the women of Asian and Pacific descent. Asian and Pacific women live across vast geopolitical zones.
In our Fifteenth Annual Conference, we hope to explore the complex relationships between Indigenous and diasporic populations. Where is 'Asia,' and where is 'the Pacific'? What do postcolonial, transnational and feminist theories offer these conversations about Asian and Pacific identities and locations? What are the gaps in these theories? How else can we examine Asian and Pacific women's histories and practices of crossing borders of nations, cultures, race, gender, and class? The Conference Committee invites academics, feminists and activists from all disciplines, institutions and organizations to submit proposals for 'Asian & Pacific Women: Indigenous and Diasporic.'
