"The Pacific Studies WWW Monitor" (ISSN 1443-8976) was established 12 April 2000. The journal, a pioneering and the only publication of this kind in the world, provides weekly abstracts and reviews of new/updated online resources of significance to research, teaching and communications dealing with Pacific Studies. It is modelled on its sister publication Asian Studies WWW Monitor which was established in April 1994. The periodical forms a key element of the global, cooperative project Pacific Studies WWW Virtual Library.

The American Anthropologist Summaries (1888-2000)
Center for a Public Anthropology, Hawaii Pacific University, HI, USA
Supplied note: "You can use the archive to search for any author, name, subject, or cultural group [in all parts of the world, incl. the Pacific - ed.] written about in the 'American Anthropologist' from 1888 through 2000 and can get a summary of what was said by whom. [...] The project, involving more than 70 schools from Canada and the United States, presents what might be termed a 'bifocal' view of the material. "Bifocal" refers to the fact that there are two summaries by two different students at two different schools for each article and obituary. The goal is to avoid the biases implicit in single-authored reviews so common today. We have completed roughly 75% of the 8,000 summaries involved in the American Anthropologist portion of the project and expect to complete the rest this fall. If you or colleagues are interested in having one of your classes participate in the project for Current Anthropology or Human Organization this coming spring - I would stress it works best when done as a set of class assignments - all you have to do send me an e-mail at borofsky@hpu.edu or you can click on: http://www.publicanthropology.org/Archive/HowToParticipate.htm to find out more about the project. - rb."

Mundus: Gateway to Missionary Collections in the UK
SOAS Library, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), London, UK
Supplied note: "SOAS Library is pleased to announce the launch of the Mundus Gateway, the on-line guide to missionary-related resources in the UK. [...] The Mundus database contains summary descriptions of more than 400 collections held in over 50 institutions in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Each description provides content and contextual information, and details of finding aids and of access conditions. The database can be accessed in a number of ways: free-text searching, browsing by name, place and subject indexes and using a clickable map. [...] - cb."
