"The Pacific Studies WWW Monitor" (ISSN 1443-8976) was established
12 April 2000. It is modelled on its sister publication
Asian Studies WWW Monitor which was
est. in April 1994.
The periodical forms a key element of the global, cooperative project Pacific
Studies WWW Virtual Library.
Daily announcements and contents' summaries published in the web
edition of the Journal are disseminated also on the network via a
mailing list.

orientated conferences in the next 12 months. There will be a
conference on 'Urbanisation in Oceania' from 6-7 Nov 2000; 'Food in
the Pacific and Asia' from 30 Nov to 1 Dec 2000 and a conference on
'Education in the Pacific' 7-9 Mar 2001. The CCP invites papers for
all these conferences from scholars across a range of disciplines as

"The Pacific Studies Initiative (PSI) is a joint project of the
University of Hawai`i Center for Pacific Islands Studies, the
East-West Center, Kapi`olani Community College Library, and other
partners. The purpose of the online collection is to make available
instructional materials for teaching about the Pacific Islands in a
wide range of specialized courses on the Pacific as well as
nonspecialized courses that may facilitate teaching about the Pacific
in general humanities and social science courses. The [PSI] site is
created to make materials available to faculty, students, and
professionals throughout the world. It also aims to generate
discussion of diverse approaches to teaching about the Pacific. The
sponsors particularly want to invite new submissions so that the site
will continually transform and develop. Comments and suggestions are
welcome."
