"Dear colleagues,
Some of you may be interested to learn that a very early, if not the earliest grammar of Hindi-Urdu/Hindustani was written in Dutch in 1698 by Jean Joshua Ketelaar and has just been edited and published in three volumes from the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. This includes a facsimile of the Dutch manuscript [= 79 jpg format images of handwritten pages by the said Jean Joshua Ketelaar - ed.]
