"The Center for Lao Studies was formed in 2006 as an outcome of the First International Conference on Lao Studies. It is a non-profit, public benefit organization, incorporated in the state of California. The mission of the Center for Lao Studies is to promote and advance the field of Lao Studies in all disciplines through research, education, seminars, conferences, and cultural and study abroad exchange programs.
As a resource center for the general public and persons of Lao heritage, CLS serves as a liaison with cultural organizations, universities, academia, associations, and institutions."
