Self-description:
"Our objective is to publish an online review that will serve as a valuable research instrument for social scientists working on contemporary Turkey.
Following the lead of the preceding generation of social scientists, we rejectĘ'orientalist' essentialisms, for example, the view of Turkey as representative of an 'Islamic' country or an 'eastern' culture. We also wish to move away from familiar but exhausted approaches to the study of Turkish society, such as those that would describe this country as a bridge between East and West."
