Supplied note [a note sent to the AS WWW Monitor 17 Oct 2007 - ed.]: "The 8th Annual Central Eurasian Studies Society Conference will be held at the University of Washington from October 18-21, 2007. This international conference welcomes academic specialists on Central Eurasia from all over the world and includes a public lecture and film series. The Keynote Address, "Nationalizing States Revisited," will be delivered by Professor Rogers Brubaker, Department of Sociology, UCLA, and will take place on Friday, October19, from 4:30 to 6:00 pm in Kane Hall room 120 on the University of Washington campus. Films from the region will be shown in the Allen Auditorium in Suzzallo-Allen Library on Saturday, October 20, from 9 am to 4 pm. Both events are free and open to the public. These free public events are sponsored by the Ellison Center for Russian East European and Central Asian Studies, the Henry M. Jackson Foundation and Open Society Institute Budapest.
