"The SRC was established in September 2005 as of merging the former East-West Center for Research & Intercultural Dialogue (CEW) with the Applied Research Center. These two centers were separately run by the departments of International & Comparative Politics and Sociology respectively. [...]

- Research and policy analysis.
- Forums, round tables, workshops, on-line discussions, conferences, and videoconferences.
- Publications (newsletters, occasional papers, journals, monographs, books, brochures, policy papers, and proceedings from the workshops, conferences, and seminars). Access to the most of publications will be available on-line.
- Speakers Series.
- Visiting Research Fellows Program for local, regional, and international scholars.
- Mentoring support for local scholars.
- Regular presentations by local and foreign scholars about their research results.
- TV Scholarly Forum.
- Student Research Projects.
Target areas
Political and Socio-Economic Development with particular focus on the following areas:
- Migration: Impacts of External and Internal Migration on Economic and Social Development (Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian countries)
- Corruption (Kyrgyzstan)
- Islam: Political and Social Aspects (Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian countries)
- NGO Development in Kyrgyzstan
- Security Cooperation in Central Asia."
