The Asia--Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT)
Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane, QLD, Australia
Self-description:
"The Asia--Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT) [2 December 2006 to 27 May 2007 - ed.] is the Queensland Art Gallery's flagship international contemporary art event. Established in 1993, it is the only major series of exhibitions in the world to focus exclusively on the contemporary art of Asia and the Pacific, including Australia.
The fifth APT (APT5) will be the opening exhibition at the new Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) -- the Queensland Art Gallery's much-anticipated second building, which will be the largest gallery of modern art in Australia. APT5 will also be shown in the original Gallery building, with displays across both sites making the exhibition twice the scale of previous Triennials.
APT5 will include around 270 works by 37 individual artists, filmmakers and performers, as well as two multi-artist projects. Highlights will include numerous commissioned works by artists such as Ai Weiwei (China), Dinh Q Le (Vietnam) and eX de Medici (Australia), as well as the Triennial's strongest representation of Pacific artists to date.
Curated cinema and performance programs will bring a dynamic new dimension to APT5, exploring these media on a scale never before presented by the Triennial.
More information on all aspects of the exhibition will be added progressively to this site in the lead-up to the public opening on 2 December 2006. [...]
APT5 curatorial team:
Doug Hall, AM, Director;
Lynne Seear, Assistant Director, Curatorial and Collection Development
Andrew Clark, Assistant Director, Public Programs;

Since the first Triennial in 1993, more than half a million people have visited the APT exhibitions, peaking with more than 220 000 visitors to APT 2002. Reflecting the diversity of the Asia--Pacific region, each APT has presented a broad range of artists and their works. "
