Americas, Europe and Asia/Oceania to come
to Macau, where the 13th Congress of FIEALC [25-28 Sep 2007 - ed.]
will be held for the first time in China, when the
whole region is entering a dramatic
socio-economic growth period. [...]
The General Theme for the Congress is 'Latin
America-Caribbean and Asia-Pacific in the 21st
Century'. Papers and panels are encouraged to focus on
interaction and comparison between the two continents, as
well as interdisciplinary studies. There are 10 recommended

(the commercial relations between East and West with
special reference to China/Asia and Latin America;
development models; international trade & national interest;
international aid & consequences; complementarity &

(political institutions in Latin America from Independence till
Modernity; political reforms & development; democracy &
democracies; the 'lurch to the Left' and the new role of
'native' groups in Latin America; community building and
NGOs; new populism);
4. Law and Justice;

(diplomacy & integration; the US & Latin America; the rise
of China & implications for Latin America; people to people
contacts; tourism);
6. Globalization
(technological development and globalization; local
identities and local communities in the process of
globalization, Latin America and Asia Pacific in the Doha
Round);
7. Culture;
8. Literature;
(role of literature in modern history and Latin America;
outstanding literary works)
9. History
(the New World and Asian imagination; the historical
relations between Portugal, Spain and Asia; the creation of
nationalism, their comparison and interaction; migration
from Asia-Pacific to Latin America and back);
10. Macau
(as a 'platform'-- its bridging role between East and West,
between China and Latin America from history, present to
the future).
Panel Proposals and Individual Papers

The panel proponents should submit their forms before the 15th of
September 2006, and the individual paper presenters before the
15th of December 2006 [...]. Abstract of
papers (not more than 500 words) in each category, with
preference in English, are required for selection.
The forms should be submitted to the Organizing Committee of
FIEALC 2007 before the above deadlines in the following
methods:
1. Fill out the online registration form for panel/individual
proposals provided in our website www.fiealc2007.org
(Recommended by the Organizing Committee);
2. Email the completed registration form to our email box at
contact@fiealc2007.org.

3. Send by post to the Organizing Committee in form of
diskette or CD in PDF or WORD format. (Mailing Address:
Suite 1109, Macau Landmark, Avenida da Amizade,
Macau).
All papers must be written in Spanish, Portuguese or English. [...]
