This year the ARC Asia Pacific Futures Research Network's (APFRN)
signature event is organised by the Media-Asia Research Group (MARG) at
Curtin University of Technology in Perth. We would like to invite you
to join us.
The conference will feature over 70 papers on a wide range of topics
exploring issues such as new media and the internet, media and gender,
media law and policy, journalism, globalisation and censorship in the
region.
Prominent Asian film directors Shyam Benegal from India and Garin
Nugroho from Indonesia will be at the conference to talk about film and
social commentary. [...]
The conference will feature short films from Yogyakarta, Indonesia
compiled by Konfiden Foundation in Jakarta. There will also be a
screening of Passabe, a documentary film by James Leong and Lynn Lee
(Singapore) on the United Nations-backed Commission for Reception, Truth
and Reconciliation in East Timor.
