Supplied note: "The organizing committee of the 3rd World Congress of Korean Studies announces call for papers to all academics and professionals in Korean Studies. The 3rd World Congress, 'Cultural Interaction with Korea: From Silk Road to Korean Wave', will be held from Oct 27 to Oct 30, 2006 at Cheju National University, Jejudo, Korea. As the biggest Korean Studies conference in the world, it will provide scholars with an opportunity to share the ideas and the latest achievements on Korean Studies. Furthermore, participants will be able to experience not only well-preserved natural environment but also rich historical remains and valuable folk materials of Jejudo island.
Designated topic sessions: History, Sociology, Culture/Anthropology, Political Science, Economics, Law, Art, Folklore, Literature, Education, Science & Technology, Philosophy, Religion, Language.
[There is also a scope for] Free topic sessions.
Qualifications: Scholars, professionals, and students holding MA degree or above are encouraged to participate.
Submission: Individual proposal for the designated topics should include a title page, a one-page abstract, and a one-page CV. In case of free topic session proposal, a topic of the session, a list of session members, and their individual paper proposals should be contained. The title page needs to have the following information: 1. Title of the paper 2. Session in which the paper will be presented 3. Name(s) of the author(s) 4. Nationality 5. Department & Affiliation 6. E-mail & Post-mail address 7. Phone & Fax number
Proposals can be written either in Korean or English.
Submissions will be accepted only electronically to lovekorea--at--aks.ac.kr no later than June 6, 2006 and receipt of submissions will be acknowledged via e-mail within 2 working days. [The news of the conference has reached the AS Monitor on the 27th May 06 - ed.] The abstracts will be reviewed based on contents and suitability. Accepted speakers will be notified with detailed guideline on June 14, 2006 and will be required to submit a full paper of 10-15 pages for conference proceedings by September 3, 2006.

Registration & Financial Support: The registration fee for the congress is 30 USD, payable upon arrival. It will cover congress kit, refreshments, and one copy of congress proceedings. Accepted speakers will be provided free meals and accommodations during the congress period as well as partial compensation for travel expenses. The amount of partial travel grant depends on a fund-raising, therefore, it will be notified later. After the congress, optional excursion will be offered upon request and it will be at participants' own expense. - nj."
