The Institute was set up on the initiative of, and is presently headed by, its President, Mr. K.P.S. Gill, IPS (Retd). [...] The Institute is a registered non-profit, non-governmental organisation supported by voluntry contributions and project aid. Current Projects are supported by, among others, the Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR), the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), and the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D)."
