Asian Studies Review journal
Asian Studies Association of Australia (ASAA), Australia
Self-description: "The Asian Studies Review is the flagship publication of the Asian Studies Association of Australia [coombs.anu.edu.au/ASAA/]. The journal's editor is Kam Louie of the China and Korea Centre [www.anu.edu.au/asianstudies/us.html] at Australian National University, and the Assistant Editor is Ms Anne Platt of the Asian Studies Centre at University of Queensland [www.arts.uq.edu.au/slccs/asc.html] . The journal has an international Editorial Board with specialists from each of the Asian regions. The Regional Editors coordinate the processing of manuscripts and book reviews for their regions. The Review centres on refereed articles of the highest quality on all aspects of Asian studies. This includes traditional fields such as history, economics and literature, as well as many areas (film, popular culture, health science, environment etc) which have in the past tended to fall outside the purview of mainstream Asian studies. 'State of the art' essays and surveys of major intellectual trends in Asian countries are particularly sought. The journal also incorporates a strong book review section. Guest-edited 'special issues' are also a feature. Since 1998, the Review has been published by Blackwell and distributed internationally. In 2004 Taylor and Francis will take over as publishers. Articles submitted for consideration are sent to two external referees for evaluation, to ensure that the quality of the publication is maintained at the highest standard. Anyone interested in submitting an article to Asian Studies Review should contact the Editor, Professor Kam Louie, China and Korea Centre, Australian National University, Canberra, ACT, Australia 0200. (Ph: 02 6125 5560, Fax: 02 6125 3144) or by email to asiareview[use"@"]uq.edu.au."
