"The Second International Congress on Tibetan Medicine, Practicing the Art of the Medicine Buddha in the West: from Tradition to Evidence, Research and Practical Applications (ICTM-2) will take place November 5 - 8, 2003 at the Hyatt Regency in Washington DC, USA.
The First International Congress on Tibetan Medicine: Revealing the Art of the Medicine Buddha (November 7 - 9, 1998 - Washington DC, USA) was the first major international conference on Tibetan medicine in the west and provided an introduction to the many varied elements of Tibetan medicine: historical, geographical and environmental issues; research, translation and epistemological aspects; a survey of the different modalities and practices, as well as modern applications in western medicine. The conference brought together Tibetan doctors and lamas from around the globe in a spectacular celebration of Tibetan medicine, and was attended by over 2000 people.
ICTM-2 [...] conference will focus primarily on emerging themes that directly affect the application and practice of Tibetan medicine in the west. Key themes of ICTM-2 include:
* Highlights and potential contributions of Tibetan medicine and Buddhism to western medical practice;
