Our initial call for papers on the conference theme proved
extremely successful. [... W]e are extending the application deadline and invite paper and
panel proposals on all topics within Asian studies.
Without being restrictive, particularly welcome topics (often because
they will round out panels) include:
* Religion (politics, evangelism, fundamentalism);
* Globalization and culture;
* Asian diasporas and cultural integration;
* Cinema and theater;
* Technology and education;
* NGO activity in regional development;
* Problems in contemporary -
West Asia (Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan),
Central Asia (especially Mongolia),
Northeast Asia (particularly the Koreas),
South Asia (India, Bangladesh),
Southeast Asia.
The John and Mae Esterline Prize for outstanding student papers
will be awarded at the ASPAC 2003 conference. Application Deadline is
April 15, 2003.
All conference papers will be considered for inclusion in the
ASPAC electronic journal.
The paper/panel proposal form is located on the paper proposal
page. The revised application deadline is March 31, 2003. Applicants
will be notified concerning status within one week of receipt. - bv."
