Supplied note: "A major national symposium entitled 'Asian Knowledge in a Multicultural Australia' will be held from 9am to 5 pm on Wednesday 4 December in the Fairfax Theatre, National Gallery of Australia, Canberra. You are warmly invited to attend. The Symposium, which is presented jointly by the Australian National University's National Institute for Asia and the Pacific, the Asian Studies Association of Australia (ASAA) and the Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia (FECCA), takes up themes highlighted in the ASAA's recent report Maximizing Australia's Asia Knowledge. It seeks to explore the state of Australia's Asia knowledge, to consider the contribution which that knowledge can make to a multicultural society, and to explore the contribution of Australia's diverse ethnic communities to Australia's knowledge of its region.
