1. Developing Southeast Asian studies within Hong Kong [...].
2. Promoting Southeast Asian studies in China, and Chinese studies in Southeast Asia.
3. Encouraging and facilitating links between Asian studies, policy research, strategic studies and economics research institutes in China and Southeast Asia.
4. Acting as a pivot between, and disseminating information among these Chinese and ASEAN research institutes."
