Georgia's Pankisi Gorge: An Ethnographic Survey
Berkeley Program in Soviet and Post-Soviet Studies, University of California, Berkeley, USA
Supplied note: "I am pleased to announce the latest publication in our working paper series, 'Georgia's Pankisi Gorge: An Ethnographic Survey,' by Shorena Kurtsikidze and Vakhtang Chikovani. The paper presents an ethnographic overview of the Pankisi Gorge region, focusing in particular on the largest group, the Kists (Georgian Chechens). Dr. Kurtsikidze and Dr. Chikovani are cultural anthropologists who have carried out extensive ethnographic fieldwork at this formerly obscure region of Georgian which is now so much in the news. They are currently based in Berkeley. - ds."
