Self-description: "The Central Eurasian Studies Society [...] is pleased to announce the convening of the Third Annual Conference of the Central Eurasian Studies Society [October 17-20, 2002 University of Wisconsin-Madison]. We would like to request submission of paper proposals that concern Central Eurasian studies. These include: history, languages, cultures, and modern states and societies of the Turkic, Mongolian, Iranian, Caucasian, Tibetan and other peoples of the Black Sea region, the Crimea, the Caucasus, the Middle Volga region, Central and Inner Asia and Siberia, and teaching and research about these topics and areas. We also strongly encourage proposals for pre-organized panels, including a chair and discussant. Pre-organized panels may be sponsored by scholarly organizations related to any part of Central Eurasia.
