Supplied note: 'Started in Oct 2000, the Centre aims to become a world-class locus for comparative research on the literatures of Asia and Africa. It is a joint project between SOAS and University College London. [..] The Centre runs various research projects, including 'Narrating and Imaging the Nation,' 'Gender and Literature in Cross-Cultural Contexts,' 'Performance and Literature,' and 'Translations and Translation Theories East and West.' Each project hosts four workshop-conferences over a three-year period. The Centre is establishing a publication series to come out of the projects. We also host a weekly seminar series, [...], as well as public lectures and other events."
