Atlas Mutual Heritage (AMH), Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Supplied note: "The Atlas Mutual Heritage (VOC settlements) is an expanding
database [...] which deals with the VOC (Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie,
1602-1800) heritage in Africa and Asia. The Atlas Mutual Heritage is the result
of an intensive co-operation between the Algemeen Rijksarchief, the Rijksdienst
voor de Monumentenzorg and the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. [...] In its current
form the AMH (VOC settlements) comprises [...] an overview of locations
(forts and outposts) in Africa and Asia established by the VOC in the 17th and
18th centuries [305 sites from Aden, Agra, Ahmadabad, and Ai to Waai,
Waeputih, Weligama, Wetar, Wynberg, and Yala. - ed.] . [...and ] images of
these locations that are contained in the collections of the Algemeen
Rijksarchief, the Rijksdienst voor de Monumentenzorg and the Amsterdam
Rijksmuseum. (Later versions will incorporate additional collections [and topics,
such as overseas missions and expeditions - ed.]). In this first version the Atl
as Mutual Heritage comprises ca. 2350 images: 335 paintings, drawings and prints,
473 manuscript charts and maps, 1542 photographs of overseas monuments in
the West and in the East."
