It was first established on July 16, 1999 in Singapore. Its success in creating political awareness and debate in the city-st ate has led to the development of a similar organization but with regional [Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines - ed.] reach. Based in Bangkok, Thailand, Think Centre (Asia) will hedge on its success in Singapore and work to develop a regional intellectual network for democracy."
