5star
Beijing Palace Museum
The Palace Museum, Bejing, China
Supplied note: "This is the most important site I would say for Chinese museums. Anyone who want to view the collection of the Beijing Palace Museum would be dazzled by the treasures. The Beijing Palace Museum has gone online from 16th July 2001, offering its many treasured artefacts for world-wide viewing. It took three years and some US$2.5 million for this cybernetic project. The site is in Chinese (Big5, GB), English and Japanese. Highly recommended. Five star rating, in my opinion, for contents and representation."
Site contents: Guide to the Palace Museum; Display of the Original State of the Imperial Palace (Tai He Dian [Hall of Supreme Harmony], Zhong He Dian [Hall of Middle Harmony], Bao He Dian [Hall of Preserving Harmony], Qian Qing Gong [Palace of Heavenly Purity], Jiao Tai Dian [Hall of Union], Kun Ning Gong [Palace of Earthly Tranquility], Yang Xin Dian [Hall of Mental Cultivation], Jun Ji Chu [Office of The Grand Council of State], Yi Kun Gong [Palace of Blessing To Mother Earth], Chu Xiu Gong [Palace of Gathering Excellence], Tai Ji Dian [Hall of Great Supremacy], Chang chun gong [Palace of Eternal Spring]); Exhibitions (The Treasure Gallery, The Pottery Gallery, The Bronze Gallery, The Painting Gallery, The Clock Gallery, The Handicraft Gallery).
[The high rating by Dr S.L. Lee is fully justified. Please note that many sections of the site require additional plug-ins - ed.]
