"Eldis ('the gateway to development information') is collaborating
with the Institute of Development Studies in creating a [prototype -
ed.] 'Resource Centre' dedicated to pastoralism; pastoralism and
education; pastoralism and conflict. [...] The [...] Centre will: 1.
Feature important articles pitched at, (and emerging from),
policy-makers, grassroot organizations and NGOs, academics and
researchers 2. Incorporate relevant news items, i.e. conferences, new
project initiatives etc. 3. Highlight specially commissioned resources
such as, for example: * a reasoned list of recent and on-going
projects concerning pastoralists and pastoralism; * reference lists of
electronic and paper-based literature; * a comprehensive databases of
researchers, organisations, NGOs, academics working in the arena of
pastoralism. 4. Allow you as an organisation to contribute research
work and relevant materials to a website which has a high visibility.
5. Offer the possibility to participate in a moderated discussion
forum and communicate with a large community of people involved in the
issues pertaining to pastoralism. 6. Offer the possibility to receive
highlights on pastoralism via e-mail. 7. Offer on-line search
facilities through our database of pastoralism-related materials,
using keywords."
