Glossary of Chinese Islamic Terms
Nordic Institute of Asian Studies (NIAS), Copenhagen, Denmark
Supplied note: "NIAS is on the point of sending to press a long-awaited 'Glossary of Chinese Islam' by Jianping Wang. This deals primarily but not exclusively with the Hui and readers will find a wealth of information on not only the religion but also the social life and organization of Muslims in China. More information on the Glossary can be found at [the URL below] as well as links to other books on Chinese Islam (e.g. more recent material by Dru Gladney and Michael Dillon) [...] An electronic copy of the glossary itself [1 MB, in .pdf, Adobe Acrobat format - ed.] can be downloaded for browsing."
Self-description: "This work focusses on Islamic terms of Middle Eastern origin and is the most comprehensive glossary of its kind to date, taking terms from a wide variety of local gazetteers and archives, newspapers, books and periodicals. It is also the first to fully match the Chinese term (stated in Chinese script and pinyin) to its Arabic or Persian counterpart (stated in Arabic script with Latin transcription)."
