Proceedings: Roadblocks on Information Highway in Japanese Education e IT Revolution
National Institute of Multimedia Education, Chiba, Japan
Supplied note:
"Proceedings from a conference focusing on 'roadblocks' created by the
social fabric of Japanese education institutions in implementing ICT
['information and communication technology' - ed.].
The volume focuses on three interrelated sets of problems [...]: (1)
resistance of Japanese institutions (whether in business or education)
to change, especially at leadership levels, including the Ministry of
Education, (2) lack of skilled technical personnel to support ICT due
to employment, training, and rotation practices developed in business
which carry over into education; and (3) lack of focus on teaching of
practical knowledge, due to the examination-oriented focus of Japanese
education and a strong tendency to use the new technologies as
substitutes for pedagogies. Site contains papers, powerpoint slides,
video streaming segments; bilingual in English/Japanese."
