"A new magazine published in January 2000 by Contemporary Asian
Culture, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to bring to
English-speaking readers insights into Asia. The focus of Persimmon is
contemporary culture in East Asia, Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent,
and Mongolia. Each issue includes: (1) Fiction, memoirs, poetry; (2)
Interviews and profiles (featuring prominent
Asian writers, artists, and film directors); (3) City Scan (brief reports
on high culture and pop culture in a half-dozen Asian cities); (4) On-Site
(in-depth report from a fine writer's home base in Asia); (5) Feature
articles (on artists, architects, social and educational leaders); (6) Book
and film reviews."
